Wellington Camp 2009

On May 11 2009 Rooms 1 & 2 ventured to Wellington for their triennial Big City Experience. 45 students and 10 parents and teachers bordered the bright yellow & blue Karapiro Cruiser at 8.30am for the 8 hour trip to the capital city.

On May 11th to the 16th 2009, Horahora School two senior classes went to Wellington to have their amazing school camp and  to have some fun.

We went to Capital E ONTV where we got to be live TV presenters and work in the Sound Studio making some jazzy music on the computers. We also visited the Weta cave at Weta Workshops which was a place that people found creepy. The children also got to observe the busy bee politicians being busy bees in the Beehive and all the bizarre fish that you have never seen before at the Island Bay Marine Education Centre. Happy Valley was a rubbish dump where most of Wellington’s waste goes to. This makes the valley not a very happy place, it stunk but they recycle almost everything!. H20 Extreme was a place full of water with no cold pools. Everyone was excited to go on the train ride afterwards back to central Wellington, especially when the train stopped because when they stood up they almost fell over. At the Zoo, there was a big room where all the children and adults stayed. At night, we toured the zoo in the dark seeing the bats, geckos, wild African dogs and feeding the giraffes. It was great fun and cool to watch. We stayed at Wellywood backpackers, a zebra coloured hotel where we had to get the parents to hold onto the keys.

I had mints and I was sharing them with all my friends. It was hilarious!
